The Self-Check-in Hotel in Zurich
The Alpine Rooms by Leoneck will welcome their guests from February 1 as a trendy self-check-in hotel. The rooms are designed in Alpine chic.
The concept of Alpine Rooms by Leoneck is simple: Guests organize their entire stay from the comfort of their smartphone but have the team at their side in case of problems or questions. This concept is part of the development of the «new generation hotels» and is therefore in tune with the times. The Alpine Rooms by Leoneck combine high-quality products with reduced services. This way, attractive prices can be guaranteed. «People appreciate the independence and efficiency they gain from self-check-in solutions,» explains Cedric Nake, Head of Corporate Development at Fred Tschanz.
Changes to accommodate the future
In spring 2020, the former Leoneck Swiss Hotels temporarily closed its doors. «Due to the changed market situation during the coronavirus pandemic, we were forced to reposition ourselves,» explains Cedric Nake. A large part of the former hotel rooms was converted into serviced apartments, which are extremely popular today thanks to the . The former lobby has since been used as a wine bar and venue. «We wanted to continue running our Alpine Rooms as a hotel.» However, managing the 13 rooms as a classic hotel would not have been economically viable. So that’s where we got the idea to use the synergies with the sister hotel Walhalla and open a self-check-in hotel.
A piece from the Alpine world in the center of Zurich
The «Hütten im Alpenglühn» project by light artist Gerry Hofstetter served as the leitmotif for the Alpine Rooms which were renovated in 2018. To mark the 150th anniversary of the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC), he took some spectacular photographs of 26 illuminated SAC huts. Some of these photographs are now hanging in the rooms of the Alpine Rooms by Leoneck. Each of the rooms bears the name of the mountain hut on display inside. «This is how we bring the Swiss Alpine world into our rooms – it creates that special kind of coziness,» Cedric Nake says.
A new beginning full of confidence
The Alpine Rooms will reopen on February 1. The completely digital hotel offer is aimed primarily at guests who spontaneously book a city trip or are on a business trip. The Alpine Rooms by Leoneck also offer attractive deals for long-term stays. Cedric Nake is looking forward to seeing old and new faces again and to continually refining the self-check-in concept. «We certainly won’t be able to win back all of our regular customers. But I am confident that we will be able to attract many new ones,» he concludes.
